Although technology plays a major part in of all our lives, here at W.O.K the children have more fun with sticks!
This week the children have been showing good team work, problem solving skills and the magic ingredient of……imagination! With squirrels and magpies getting increasingly clever at finding ways to get into the children’s lunch bags, some of the children decided to take matters into their own hands and come up with a new way of scaring them off. They came up with the idea of a ‘stick person’. Using the natural materials they have at their disposal and a little bit of string they carried out the task in hand. The finishing touches came in the shape of a staff members jacket.
Other children took the opportunity to build dens and keep a look out for any unwanted visitors in our camps. Again the children worked with the materials they had and, with a bit of risk assessing, they built their very own little hideaway!
